Investment in a new office development at Darlington business park Lingfield Point looks set to create up to 300 new jobs.
The new owner of the site plans to convert a former industrial unit into grade A offices. London-based real estate funds manager Frogmore is now on site speculatively developing the 25,795 sq ft project.
Completion is expected in May 2020 on the open plan office space, with property agents Knight Frank and Cushman & Wakefield now marketing the space internationally to find a tenant.
“This new office is going to be very contemporary with exposed services and lots of natural light thanks to the north roof light design, creating a fantastic working environment,” said Patrick Matheson, partner at Knight Frank Newcastle.
“The single-floor layout makes it well suited to a customer service provider and possibly a company that is considering ‘North-shoring’ or ‘re-shoring’ its operation to make it more efficient.”
The 85-acre Lingfield Point is located two miles from the centre of Darlington, with office space available from 200 sq ft to 130,000 sq ft and warehousing up to 130,000 sq ft.
Greg Davison, director at Cushman & Wakefield, added: “For any occupier looking to locate their business in the UK regions, Darlington, and Lingfield Point in particular, this offers a fantastic opportunity.
“It offers a strong labour pool, combined with an enviable life/work balance for staff, all within easy reach of London and the wider region via the East Coast mainline.”
