A brand new retirement village has opened for sale in Hampshire with a special open house over the weekend marking the occasion.
Friary Meadow in Titchfield opened its doors to visitors on Saturday 14 March, welcoming key stakeholders and those who had signed up to view the properties to look around the finished project.
In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, plans for a more encompassing open day were shelved and visitors were welcomed individually to enjoy private tours of the new homes.
The £35 million development – which comprises 86 luxury homes consisting of a mix of apartments, bungalows and townhouses – is a joint project between independent retirement living specialist, Oak Retirement, and real estate fund manager Frogmore.
It’s based on the ‘extra-care’ living model (as recommended by the Department of Health), aimed at giving older people the opportunity to retain their independence for longer by enabling them to own their properties and thereby protecting their equity, whilst still benefitting from on-hand care services and ongoing support.
Dr Stephen Ladyman, founder of Oak Retirement and a former Minister of Health responsible for social care, comments: “We’re delighted to finally be able to welcome people to Friary Meadow. Given ongoing developments, we had to tone down our celebrations somewhat, but it was still fantastic to be able to unveil the finished article to people. Feedback was universally positive, and we can’t wait for residents to start moving in.”

Construction on Friary Meadow began in June 2017 during an official ceremony attended by the former Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Geoff Fazackarley, and former Mayoress Tina Fazackarley.
